Our kitchen is a vessel for healing. Our food is spiced with love and prayer

The great Chassidic Master, Rabbi Yisroel Baal Shem Tov, would oft say:

“Not on bread alone does man live, for it is by all the utterances of the L-rd that man lives.”

The Baal Shem Tov explained that everything in the universe constantly contain within it the divine speech where existence begins.

When we sustain ourselves with bread, we harnessing the divine speech in the bread, and including it in our personal journey of action – Mitzvah.

Volunteers and staff infuse the food with the Kavana – Intent, awakening and imbuing the divine spark of the food with spiritual life, so that it is not merely a tasty treat being served, but a divine one.
